Chapter 552: Chapter 262: Two Epic Skills, Going to School?

Thinking of this, Flora felt a surge of emotion.

’Back when I first met him… Lin Mo was just a greenhorn who had just become an Adventurer.’

’Even in a small place like Roland Town, he was among the lowest-ranking Adventurers.’

’But now, he’s already become someone who has surpassed me.’

’And that wasn’t decades ago, or even years ago. It had only been a few months…’

Flora recalled what she had once told her challengers: “I’ve met many geniuses, and they all called me a genius.”

Now, it seemed that same sentiment applied to her.

“There is always a higher mountain, and always a greater genius.”

She, too, had been young and reckless once. Drowned in endless praise, she had found it hard to truly appreciate these words from Teacher Elvis.

As she grew older and saw more of the world, she slowly learned humility.

And whatever sharp edges of pride she had left were finally and completely worn down after meeting Lin Mo.

Flora couldn’t help but wonder if there was someone out there who could one day make Lin Mo feel what she was feeling now.

Unfortunately, as far as she knew, if such a person did exist, it could only be one of the distant, ephemeral gods.

———-

The journey back was filled with joy and laughter.

Luckily, Lin Mo’s carriage hadn’t been caught in the earlier collapse and was still waiting where they had left it.

So they boarded the carriage and headed back toward the camp at a leisurely pace.

They had spent nearly a full day in the lower levels of the Giant Stone Mine. It was now around noon again, which was perfect. They could reach the camp in the upper levels, rest for the night, and then set off for Fajade City the next morning.

’We’ve been gone for so many days. Lena must be worried sick…’

Lin Mo’s heart ached as he pictured the Little Cat Girl too worried to eat.

With nothing else to do on the road, it was the perfect time to check his Skill Level gains from the recent battle.

First up was the Skill Level gained from [Wind Vortex Fist], the Combined Technique of [Mountain-Shaking Fist] and [Spiral Wind Vortex].

[Mountain-Shaking Fist] Skill Level +70

[Spiral Wind Vortex] Skill Level +70

…

As these were the main skills Lin Mo had used to kill the Crystal Cluster Guards, they gained a considerable amount of Skill Level. This was especially true because both were only Blue Excellent Level Skills, which didn’t require much Skill Level to begin with. So, even though [Mountain-Shaking Fist] had only been Level 2, after reaping this juicy wave of Skill Level, it shot straight to Full Level!

The same was true for [Spiral Wind Vortex].

Skill [Mountain-Shaking Fist] Level 2 (20/20) Leveled Up!

Current Skill: [Mountain-Shaking Fist] Level 3 (40/40)

Obtained Basic Attribute Points: Strength +3!

…

Current Skill: [Mountain-Shaking Fist] Lv7 (Max)

Obtained Basic Attribute Points: Strength +5!

Automatically evolved into a New Skill—[Shocking Void Fist]!

Skill Comprehension: [Shocking Void Fist]! Obtained Basic Attribute Points: Strength +3, Agility +2!

[Shocking Void Fist] Level 1 (0/20): Converts Qi and Blood into a powerful Fist Gang to attack enemies, forming a mighty Impact Fist Stance that vibrates space. Deals an additional 30% concussive damage (from the inside out, ignoring Armor) to surrounding targets (including the main target). On a successful hit, applies a moderate forced knockback effect to units with lower Strength than the user (targets cannot immediately counterattack while being knocked back).

In total, he had gained 11 Basic Attribute Points in Strength, bringing his Basic Strength to 134. However, after his promotion to the Elite rank, the stat requirement for leveling up had changed. Instead of 10 points per level, it was now 20. This meant he needed to reach a Basic Strength Attribute of 140 to advance to Level 12.

Based on its description, the new skill, [Shocking Void Fist], was essentially a direct upgrade to [Mountain-Shaking Fist].

It was more powerful, had a larger area of effect, and boasted a slightly improved AOE capability. Furthermore, its knockback was upgraded from “minor” to “moderate.”

It also added an extra mechanic: the additional concussive damage from the Impact Fist Stance. This damage was generated from the inside out, allowing it to ignore an opponent’s worn Armor. It was equally effective against Demons covered in tough hides or scales.

Of course, this concussive damage could still be mitigated by the target’s own Constitution Attribute; it wasn’t True Damage that ignored all defenses.

But that was still incredibly useful, especially against “squishy” Professions with low Constitution Attributes…

For example, if Lin Mo fought an opponent of similar strength who happened to be rich and powerful enough to wear a full suit of Epic Armor, his normal attacks might be heavily mitigated, unable to break through the defense.

But if he attacked with [Shocking Void Fist], even if the opponent was wearing Epic Armor, the skill’s additional concussive damage would teach them a lesson.

Next up was the much-anticipated phase: choosing an Evolutionary Path.

Please select an Evolutionary Direction—

Evolutionary Path 1: Void Shock I: Further increases the damage dealt by Impact Fist Stance, raising its concussive damage to 50%.

Evolutionary Path 2: Giant Force I: Further enhances the skill’s knockback effect. During knockback, it also disrupts the target’s circulation of Qi and Blood and Magic Power.

Both of these Evolutionary Directions were quite interesting.

The first Evolutionary Path was self-explanatory—a simple and direct boost to the damage from Impact Fist Stance. An increase from 30% to 50% was quite substantial.
