Chapter 402: Chapter 53: Clan War, Four Great Ancient Deities

The earth trembled, and the air echoed.

“HISS… ROAR!!!”

“Defend our Father God! Slaughter these damned Alien Races!!!”

In the central region of the continent.

At this moment, a vast number of Forest Elves emerged from the woods. Simultaneously, endless tree roots roiled up from beneath the earth, lashing out!

And on the other side of the battlefield stood a swarm of even more terrifying creatures.

These creatures were a swarm of long worms.

Each of these long worms was colossal, its entire head a massive, circular maw.

The great worm’s maw was filled with serrated teeth, and on either side of its body were two tiny, beady eyes.

Their bodies were also covered in a dense coat of black fuzz that resembled slender tentacles.

Even the smallest of these creatures were a hundred meters long, while the largest far exceeded a kilometer.

They surged forward in a mighty, black tide, like a flood pouring across a desert, crashing against the verdant domain of the forest.

Meanwhile, atop the heads of these terrifying great worms—and flying above them—were humanoid creatures with wings and heads like those of mosquitoes.

Some flew high in the sky, while others commanded the great worms in battle against the onrushing Forest Elves.

War raged ceaselessly in this region, its intensity far beyond imagination.

Great worms and Forest Elves alike were dying in massive numbers with every passing moment.

From the moment the two sides clashed, the entire battlefield devolved into a chaotic melee, utterly devoid of strategy or order.

Viewed from high above, the war stretched for nearly a thousand kilometers along the border.

Its scale was staggering.

The casualties were equally horrifying.

In some sectors, one could even occasionally witness beings of the Saint Tier—or even the Demigod Tier—suddenly intervene, triggering terrifyingly fierce battles.

The earth split asunder, and all life withered.

Everything was savage and brutal.

Far behind the front lines, Sean watched this scene from high in the sky, a silent observer.

“How long have you been fighting a war like this?”

“Or rather, how often does a war of this scale break out between your two races?”

Sean turned to the Queen’s Guard at his side.

The Queen’s Guard was a Demigod Tier being. She regarded Sean with an indifferent, placid expression.

“About every thousand sunrises and sunsets, my Race and the Feathered Insect Race engage in an all-out border war.”

“A thousand days?”

Sean was stunned.

’Are you kidding me?’

’A war of this magnitude happens every thousand days?’

“Forgive my impertinence, but may I ask about the reproductive rates of your two races?”

The Queen’s Guard shot Sean a sideways glance and replied nonchalantly:

“Do you think our two races could sustain a war of this magnitude if our birth rates were poor, honored guest?”

“However, since you have asked, I suppose there is no harm in telling you.”

“Take my Forest Race, for example. Under normal circumstances, after drinking the Life Dew, each female can give birth to two or three offspring every thirty sunrises and sunsets.”

“Relying on the Mighty Power of our Father God, and nourished by the forest spirits who draw nutrients from the earth, our Race is fully capable of raising a warrior population of this size within a thousand days.”

“Someone of my strength was born a mere five thousand sunrises and sunsets ago!”

’Five thousand sunrises and sunsets?’

’That’s equivalent to less than fourteen years?’

’Even if this world’s orbital period is different from planets in the Star Empire like Blue Star, a day here isn’t that much longer—ten hours at most.’

’The Forest Race can raise a Demigod in that little time?’

’What the hell… that’s ridiculously fast, even compared to Players in the True Game!’

’So this is the power of an Ancient Species and its native Clan?’

As Sean reeled from the shock, the Queen’s Guard continued,

“As for the Alien Race on the other side, the Feathered Insect Race, their reproduction and growth rates are even faster than ours!”

“But everything comes at a price.”

“I’m sure you’ve noticed, honored guest, that in the territory controlled by the Feathered Insect Race, the entire land has turned to desert.”

“Those creatures are insatiably greedy. If they were allowed to rule our world, it would inevitably be destroyed.”

“Therefore, similar to our Forest Race, on the western and northern sides of the continent, the Races of two other Ancient Deities are also continuously at war with these greedy creatures.”

“However, whether it is us or the other two Alien Races, the truth is that the Feathered Insect Race has been steadily encroaching on our territory.”

At this, a grave expression crossed the Queen’s Guard’s face.

“I might as well tell you this.”

“About ten thousand sunrises and sunsets ago, our Father God actually joined forces with the Alien Gods of the other two Races.”

“My Father, the Green God, sent his roots throughout the land. Of the other two Alien Gods, one sealed the heavens while the other turned the earth to mud. Together, They attempted to kill the Evil God of the Feathered Insect Race.”

“But as for the result… I believe you can guess what happened, honored guest.”

“We failed. The combined might of the three Ancient Deities was completely neutralized by the deity of the Feathered Insect Race.”

“It was only then that the Three Gods learned that the God of Giant Devouring possessed a second form and a second Law Power.”

“The Feathered Insects… the giant devouring insects can actually undergo metamorphosis!”

“And now, these members of the Feathered Insect Race that you see, honored guest, are the new form the race took after that event.”

’Sean listened, at a loss for words.’

’It wasn’t hard to understand a caterpillar metamorphosing into a butterfly.’

’So, does that mean these terrifying great worms I’m seeing now will metamorphose into those giant, winged, humanoid mosquitoes flying above their heads?’
