In life, it’s often impossible to predict everything.

No one can do it, not even Ren Zhong or Ying Hao.

Although Ren Zhong has already gathered a lot of information from the “Net,” it is still impossible to know what the “Net” is thinking the next second.

Even though Ying Hao, as the Steward of Source Star Military Industry, has secretly plotted for two hundred years, he still didn’t expect that introducing a new member could bring about such severe chain reactions.

…

Except for unimportant personnel, the Ren Group essentially acquired the fixed assets of various resource enterprises intact.

Ren Zhong temporarily disbanded the formations of the Starfire Army and the Yangsheng Army, dispatching these maturely trained “wastelanders” from Starfire Town to various towns to integrate locally as quickly as possible.

These expatriate personnel have both supervisory duties and responsibilities of guidance.

In a very short time, Ren Zhong stabilized the Ruined Beast resource collection industry in each town within Yangsheng City.

Moreover, Ren Zhong began to fully implement the various policies from Starfire Town, rapidly mobilizing the enthusiasm of scavengers from each town, accompanied by expert guidance from the masters of Starfire Town, which visibly boosted the efficiency of Ruined Beast resource collection in each town.

Ren Zhong is not afraid that these expatriate personnel will develop entrenched corruption after gaining power.

Under the surveillance of the wrist watch, as long as he, as the Steering Man, remains uncorrupted, no one would dare to do what he disapproves of.

Although he doesn’t want to admit it, the fact is that after he started using omnipresent surveillance methods, he found them indeed very useful.

For those who control power, this is simply a divine tool to lower the difficulty of wielding authority.

No wonder the high-positioned individuals on Source Star seem “dim” to Ren Zhong, not good at scheming, even he, who was once considered a low emotional intelligence “study geek” in the 21st century, has become a master of understanding worldly affairs.

The day after the end of the corporate warfare, Xiao Xingyue visited Starfire Town once.

Her main intention was to convey Ying Hao’s requests to Ren Zhong verbally.

Xiao Xingyue told Ren Zhong that due to the success of the trial in Yangsheng City, the Tanggu Group had once again changed its mind.

In fact, as early as half a month ago, the Tanggu Group had secretly trialed mimicking Ren Zhong’s policies at a location in the Third State, but since the local Mayor and resource recycling enterprise boss didn’t meet Ren Zhong’s level of prestige, the experimental results were unimpressive.

Unless the Tanggu Group directly throws money, the enthusiasm of the wastelanders cannot be mobilized, and there was always a lack of confidence in the upper-level managers.

“So, under the instigation of the Tanggu Group, the Chairman decided to unite with multiple forces to initiate a global-level corporate warfare in advance. The Chairman wanted me to tell you that in the upcoming corporate warfare, your side can still receive equipment support, but he hopes you… progress a bit slower and slightly control the pace of expansion, giving others hope. Of course, this time, the actions of the Tanggu Group are substantial, and other big forces will surely stealthily join in. You may not always win easily. I can guarantee that by then, regardless of whether you or someone else is the final victor, you will not be in danger of losing your life. Your method of managing the grassroots wastelanders will also be promoted.”

Ren Zhong smiled, “Understood. You’re saying that if someone else achieves the final victory, I will also be publicly promoted to become the spiritual leader to inspire the wastelanders, right?”

Xiao Xingyue shrugged, “You could say that. The Chairman hopes you understand his difficulties; he must provide a stage for the wastelanders to showcase their potential and value during the warfare. When the corporate warfare is halfway through, the Promotion Association will fully push for the Association’s new policies, aiming to create five hundred million new Fourth Level citizen slots by then.”

Ren Zhong nodded, “Five hundred million slots. Very well, I personally support it very much.”

“Then, I’ll take my leave here.”

“Okay. See you.”

…

Ren Zhong Era, Day 160.

A sudden storm brewed.

The Promotion Association tentatively proposed adding five hundred million Fourth Level slots in the Supreme Elder Council of the Association, facing vehement opposition from the comprador faction.

The comprador faction believes that current citizens are those historically handpicked and reliable, having received excellent higher education, enough to meet the Empire’s needs.

If a large number of unruly wastelanders who don’t understand the rules are also allowed to join the migration, it will certainly lead to a significant shake-up in the mainstream societal trends on Source Star.

This will change the entire social structure of Source Star humanity.

When reaching the Empire, the five hundred million people will not bring stronger development potential but will only cause chaos in the mighty Empire domain, becoming a terrifyingly unstable factor.

By that time, Source Star humanity could be possibly dragged into trouble by new citizens, facing annihilation.

Ying Hao, however, argues that the enemies from the Empire still exist, and the demand for warfare has never decreased. Source Star humanity, being the returning migrants, would naturally join the military composition.

If, by then, the Empire’s high-level discovers that most Source Star people are nothing but pampered lords, further lowering the civilization status of Source Star humanity, that would be the real disaster.

While the debate reached a deadlock in the meeting.

“Heaven’s Punishment” suddenly descended.

Ying Hao died, killed by a handgun under the hand of a Supreme Elder who had just exited freezing and rushed to the conference room.

When the opponent shot from behind, Ying Hao’s crisis intuition was triggered.

He was planning to activate the defensive shield on him but was horrified to discover that the custom Level Nine shield suddenly lost control.

His control over the smart equipment had been revoked.

On Source Star, only two “people” have the authority to do this.

One is his ancestor, a Ying surname frozen Elder.

The other is the “Net.”

Ying Hao turned his head in bewilderment upon death, seeing none other than his own ancestor.

The founder of Source Star Military Industry, the most powerful among the nine frozen Elders, controlling the most resources and having the fewest awakenings, Ying Feng.

“Wh… Why?”

Ying Hao raised his hand in a daze.

The middle-aged Ying Feng ignored him, walking straight past him to stand on the central high platform in the Supreme Elder Council’s conference hall.

Elders, whether from the Promotion Association, comprador faction, or neutral faction, all stood up, slightly bowed their heads, and held their breath.

He uttered only one sentence.

“Source Star does not need civilization, and Source Star humanity does not need to have its own ideas. Annihilate all members of the Promotion Association.”

With that, the whole matter was decisively concluded with a thunderous might.

The next moment, dozens of unremarkable energy weapons suddenly protruded from the surrounding walls of the conference hall.

A round of light swept across, killing more than twenty elders from the Promotion Association, including the head of the Telekinesis Master Institution, who were Level Nine citizens, on the spot.

Almost simultaneously, drastic changes erupted in Yangsheng City.

Except for the equipment using alien ore components, all other equipment instantly “malfunctioned.”

The mecha worn by the warriors suddenly contracted, crushing the Mechanical Warriors inside to death.

The artillery and missiles in the scavengers’ hands suddenly fired automatically, either targeting their original owners or pointing at others nearby.

The mighty turrets installed on the military weapon store’s fortress buildings unexpectedly emerged, beginning indiscriminate firing.

The automated equipment originally installed on streets and building structures to fend off Ruined Beasts also began acting similarly.

Armed sleep cabins, armored vehicles, and security facilities, among all other devices, became owner-devouring demons.

Within a short five seconds, all areas within Yangsheng City, apart from the urban and county centers, including the wilds and all the towns, turned into Hell on Earth.

If not for the Red Blade Armor that suddenly fell and shielded him from behind, Ren Zhong would have almost been perforated by the high-powered automated machine gun facing his office.
